By now, you've heard about the YouTube/CNN Democratic debate which will take place in South Carolina on July 23. (details here)

If I were working for one of the campaigns, this is what I'd tell the candidate/campaign manager as we chatted in our senior staff meeting:

"I've got a great idea. There's a debate coming up on CNN/YouTube with the Democratic candidates on July 23 in S.C. YouTube is asking all YouTube users to submit questions which CNN will then choose to 'ask' the candidates.

"This debate will actually be 'Must See TV,' and you know that I don't even watch TV.

"So here's what I'm thinking. (And no other GOP candidate will think of this, trust me.)

"I want our guy to submit a question to the Democratic field through YouTube. I want it to be honest, thoughtful, articulate, and Presidential. Let's set aside the oppo research book and ask a question that real Americans want answered.

"The best part about this idea is that no matter what, it's a win-win for our guy. We'll email the link out to our email list, to our blogger allies, and our grassroots team in the field.

"If YouTube refuses to approve the video or if CNN chooses not to ask the question, then we'll make the case that the media is bias which will gin up our base. If CNN does choose the video then we'll be the only candidate with the courage and conviction to show up at a Democratic debate.

"Either way, we continue to move the ball further down the field because we're actually making a difference in the modern world."

Think outside of the box people. Understand the media cycle and what issues they might cover tomorrow. Fight like your winning the Election today.
