A few notes from today's conservative bloggers briefing hosted by Robert Bluey @ the Heritage Foundation

    The Price Is Right

Congressman Tom Price of Georgia kicked off the meeting by noting that the approval for Democrats, thankfully, continues to plummet, citing several independent and media polls over the past few months to prove as much. He pointed out that Democrats are having a hard time living up to their promises.

He discussed spending, taxes, the Iraq war, the state of our nation’s health care delivery system, and the Fairness Doctrine. As the NRSC's John Randall, pointed out in a question to Mr. Price, the problem with this issue is largely misinformation and crafty language. "After all, how can you be against something that’s fair?" (Read more about the unfair Fairness Doctrine here.)

Knowing that Congressman Price is a faithful floor debate fighter, I asked him what strengths he has as a communicator now that he's in the minority.

His answer and more after the jump...

"The strength of the minority is that the challenge of governing is wholly the responsibility of the Majority – that’s hard to do. In fact, many of our folks saw that it was a challenge just to keep the trains running. This allows the minority to hold the other side accountable for what they have said, say, and do. It is our responsibility to provide the contrast on the issues for the American people.

Following up on that question, I asked Mr. Price if the GOP had put forth a platform of issues and ideas that the minority could rally behind. The short answer is no, a platform does not exist. However, Mr. Price did contend that Leader Boehner has assembled teams to help re-claim the conservative brand through a platform of issues and hopes to see that move forward over the next few months.

    Modern Media RFP

John J. Miller of the Searle Freedom Trust stopped by to announce its request for proposals for modern media initiatives which foster research and encourage public policies that promote individual freedom and economic liberty.

The RFPs are due October 1 and grant applicants must have a non-profit affiliation.

I encourage each and every one of you to put your thinking caps on. This is an opportunity for the Right to help level the playing field. Find out more information on the grant at the Searle Freedom Trust website.

    The Call Of The Entrepreneur

Jay Richards of the Acton Institute previewed a new documentary they're releasing, "The Call of the Entrepreneur." As an entrepreneur myself, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing this documentary.

Here's the trailer:
