John Kerry's infamous 2004 gaffe "I voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it" comes to mind with this one.
Today, Creigh Deeds, 2009 candidate for VA governor, was caught on tape (well, multiple tapes really) stating that he both would and wouldn't raise taxes to pay for transportation if elected to statewide office.
This is a key example of how a candidate is ALWAYS ON when running for office.
...and also why it's so important to understand what your message is when you walk out the door in the morning.
And always, ALWAYS keep your cool.
To be fair, conservatives dealt with a similar gaffe in 2006, but it's a lesson that everyone needs to learn.
