I was perusing FiveThirtyEight.com when a banner ad off to the left-hand side of the screen caught my eye:
The reason the ad caught my eye was, well, because it just didn't look like a typical online ad for a political site. The ad was pink and purple, and featured two well-known (and arguably hot) celebs.
I clicked the ad and was greeted by an excellent landing page featuring The Mac's uber-popular "Celeb" ad.
This is a great example of effective display advertising. Not only did it catch my attention (persuasive), but here I am blogging about it. Friends, there is indeed value in display ads -- you just have to do it correctly. The ad itself needs to be clever and just as importantly, the landing page needs to close on the deal.
A helping of Porridge to Team McCain and the rest of the online advertising team.
