McCain's Blogger Action Center Upsetting Angry Liberals

I'm quoted in a Wired post by Sarah Lai Stirland reporting on John McCain's blogger action center which encourages his supporters to go to communities, like Redstate and DailyKos, to leave comments fighting for McCain.

You can check out the action center called "Spread the Word" here. Obv feel free to participate.

My actual quote in the piece was short, and leaves out much of the justification for why I think it's a smart strategy. The quote:

But David All, a Republican Web 2.0 consultant, and co-founder of Slatecard, an online political action committee, defended the strategy. He calls it "smart" and "unique."

"He's got the most comprehensive blogger outreach strategy, and this is just an evolution of that," he argues.

First off, it's well-reported that McCain's Patrick Hynes has led an impressive navigation through the blogosphere which continues to set new precedents for what's acceptable. Further, McCain's blog on the website consistently pulls in thousands of comments on every post -- and of note, the comments are from the Right and Left and all appear to be posted with little moderation.

But back to the issue at hand: Why in the world would you want to encourage McCainiacs to go to a liberal outpost like DailyKos to leave comments?

It's simple: Take the fight to enemy territory and keep those enemies busy in their small space on the Internet.

Doing so not only keeps them focusing on their own site, but also, the brand "DailyKos" is tremendous. And though it's a popular hub, it's not read by every single Democrat in the country. However, I'd wager that almost every Democrat in the country is familiar with the brand.

Therefore, by publicly pushing McCainiacs to this popular liberal brand, it inspires mainstream media hubs to make that the lede of their story which helps cross the verticals and let's Democrats know that McCain is not willing to leave any stone unturned and he's willing to engage everyone with his message.

This is a strong use of the Internet. The McCain team understands the power of a "community" and are willing to use that power to push a broad message.

Just another reason why I'm proud to support McCain as our next President financially and in spaces like TechRepublican. Do you?

By your own admission today

By your own admission today on MSNBC, *Republicans* are the ones with the sagging youth enthusiasm and "small space on the Internet." Have fun getting creamed on Daily Kos (and in November), and enjoy the Obama Administration. That's where all the cool kids will be. =) In all seriousness, the quagmire the GOP finds itself in today is entirely of its own making. The country has suffered long enough under Republican rule; it's time for ego tripping & cowboyism to give way to common sense and respect for the rest of the world. I predict Obama will bring out this country's "better angels" ... AND at the same time be more tough on national security, and efficient on the economy, than the McBushes. Anyone who can beat the Clinton machine at its own game will be NO pussy on the world stage.

I think the country needs a

I think the country needs a change, and that only Obama´s Administration can make it.
