So I was perusing my latest Tweets (natch) and spotted this interesting one from RNC Transition Co-Chair, @SAnuzis:

RT @StaberzZ: I hit 200 views on my RNC application video! check it out here http://tinyurl.com/cbdkpb #tcot #cagop #rnc (good stuff)

The link pops you over to a YouTube video titled, "Michael Escoto RNC Application."

Yeah, I watched the whole video too. Good work Michael and good luck.

At a time when one of the very first acts Chairman Steele makes is the creation of the GOP TechSummit, it is absolutely appropriate and smart for a hopeful employee of the RNC to use social media to help make his case online where people like Saul Anuzis will doubtless see it (and tweet/email it on).

And speaking as an employer, and having gone through the process of hiring another teammate this past week, social media can and should be utilized when seeking a new job. Last Friday I personally interviewed seven people out of the 25 or so that applied for the position.

The most memorable candidates were those that had obviously been paying attention to what I had been doing via Twitter and Facebook and what are company was doing to help our clients get ahead online. They had wisely done their research and were prepared to talk about what was important to me. And while we may have only hired one employee who starts next Monday -- you better believe I'm already looking forward to keeping the conversation going with those who showed up ready to hit the ground running.
