I caught this one this morning too and I have to admit that I'm fascinated with it... but I'd like to point out one other aspect.

The LinkedIn people most likely to answer his questions are also the most heavily invested in the site... it's part of their resume. He's not going to be many (any?) jerks, just well-reasoned and well-meant ideas and suggestions.

Kudos to the Obama Campaign on this one.
