There is a huge issue about alternate paradigms within the GOP that has to be hashed out, between the Rockefeller and Goldwater extremes. One of the main reasons we must reconcile ourselves on common ground is because of how dangerous for the nation the other party's cognitive dissonance shows itself to be again and again. They seem to live in a bizarro world where they can call Republicans Nazis while they do all they can to actually stiffle free speech in education and media. They call Republicans racists while they actually play the race card at every occasion. They call Republicans war-mongers while actually it has always been Democrats and progressive heros (Lincoln, Teddy R., Wilson, FDR, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson) who have led ALL of America's wars, and rounded up foreign nationals, put them in camps, arrested journalists and politicians who disagreed with them, and dropped atomic bombs. They accuse Republicans of election-rigging while they actually do all they can to muster illegal voters. They hate capitalism but love millionaire "activist" celebrities, millionaire dictators, and BJ and the gang raking in millions for speaking and consulting fees. A strategy of confusion and deception fit for Lenin or Machiavelli.
