Today's Bloggers Briefing was hit with a packed crowd in to listen to Representative Pete Hoekstra.

Congressman Hoekstra is the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee and an outspoken opponent of No Child Left Behind. Here are some highlights from today's briefing.

The teachers unions want to create a huge loop hole for testing, and just keep all the money.

On SCHIP

Rob Bluey asked if Hoekstra thought the House would be able to sustain the president's threatened veto of SCHIP expansion.

I think we’ll have enough votes to sustain a veto. But the president didn’t do himself any favors when he signed the education bill.

Can he find the veto pen? And when he finds it, will the ink have dried in it?

The UN wants to Tax Us
Ivan Osorio of CEI told us about the Law of the Sea Treaty, which gets a hearing in the Senate on Thursday. He explained that this is an issue that you should care about, because "The UN wants to tax you" through this treaty.

Suing the NY Times and MoveOn.org

Lisa De Pasquale told us that the American Conservative Union is still pursuing its FEC complaint against the New York Times and MoveOn.org.
