TechPresident's Josh Levy notes today that Democratic Congressman George Miller of California "is back with the second installment of his Ask George series, in which citizens can use video, blogs, SMS, or Twitter to ask Miller about the Iraq war."

As a proponent of transparency in government and an optimistic communicator hopeful that elected officials begin to embrace modern technology to connect with their constituents, I've been impressed with Ask George as a modern tool from an elected official.

And as I've said before, Ask George is the logical progression of the Constituent MailTube launched by Congressman Jack Kingston launched in June 2006 (before it was cool to YouTube).

Another elected official working to add value to the discussion at the state and local level in the name of democracy is Missouri's Lt. Governor, Peter Kinder, a Republican, with the launch of KinderSpeaks.

Here's the video explaining KinderSpeaks:

As I blogged yesterday at Kinder's site, we still need our first video question for Peter to answer. If you have a web camera and have a question for Peter, please submit it to us. Sometimes it takes leadership to get these things going... If you support openness and transparency from your elected officials, I would encourage you to submit questions to both Ask George and KinderSpeaks. We need to encourage our elected officials to reach out and communicate with us. Revolution. (Full Disclosure: Peter Kinder is a client of DAG.)
